The Lakeside Darkroom Internship programme:
This internship caters to individuals deeply passionate about analogue photography. At present, Lakeside Darkroom is unable to hire additional staff, but proposes an exchange and collaboration opportunity with internship participants, fostering the development of skilled photo technicians, photographers, visual artists, printers, and photography enthusiasts alike.
Lakeside Darkroom seeks assistance with social media management, content creation, audience engagement, and minor administrative tasks such as email correspondence to ensure smooth operations. Hybrid work hours will not exceed 16 hours per week.
If you believe you can contribute and collaborate effectively, LKSD offers free access to the Darkroom for two days a week (Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 to 19:00) and training in areas where you require reinforcement or lack confidence, spanning a duration of three months.
Depending on the volume of applications, Lakeside Darkroom plans to offer this internship opportunity every three months to maximize accessibility.
It's essential to note that Lakeside Darkroom operates under a feminist ethos, prioritizing openness, inclusivity, collaboration, love, and an anti-racist, anti-macho, anti-colonial, and anti-discriminatory stance.
Initially, we planned to have just one intern for three months, but we received such a wonderful response that we’ve decided to create an ongoing programme, with four interns every three months.
All the spots are filled until the end of the year, but we’re considering continuing into next year.
Occasionally, someone who’s been allocated a slot is no longer available, which opens up a space. When that happens, we reach out to everyone who applied to see if they’d like to join the next intake.
Before submitting your application, please carefully review the internship description.
Many thanks!
Let’s work together.

How the Internship Works
In our first two internships, we've followed this approach:
Four interns collaborate to handle Social Media Content and Administrative tasks.
We meet twice a week: one day for admin work and one day for Darkroom activities.
Teamwork is at the heart of our process.
